Ok, so since this is my FIRST WEEKLY RECAP OF 2014 (Insert moment of self-congratulations here), I've decided it's gonna be a Weekly Recap Plus. That means I'm gonna go all the way back to January 1st, when I re-started my runstreak.
Oh yeah, by the way guys...
Runstreak is happening again.
Day 12. Woot!
Oh yeah, by the way guys...
Runstreak is happening again.
Day 12. Woot!
Total miles since January 1st: 15.2 miles.
Not many miles over the course of 12 days...
But sometimes you need to start small in order to reach big goals.
Wednesday: 1.00 miles at 11:58
It was the new year. The sun was shining. The temps were in the mid-50s. And it was a fresh start to the new year with a run on one of my favorite new trails. I wish it could have gone longer, but my knee is still not quite stable enough for trail running I don't think. It started to act up and I've learned my lesson. I'm not going to "push through the pain" anymore. I've learned I need to listen when my knee starts causing me to swear like a sailor. So only one mile. But it might have been my favorite. Because it was the start of a new runstreak!
Thursday: 1.01 miles in 18:22
Yes, slow. But, first time back on the treadmill reminded me... How much I HATE THE TREADMILL. But I did it. I attempted to use the footpod for my Nike+ GPS Watch to track it... but it MAY have been awhile since I used the footpod, since it had me originally going at a pace of 4:23 minute miles. HA! That's hilarious... Very funny, Nike+ footpod...
Friday: 1.03 miles in 14:49
Better than Thursday! This was Day 3 of the runstreak and I wasn't having any knee pain. So despite the fact that I am going slower than a herd of turtles, but I'm going. Baby steps guys. Very, very, veeeeerrrrry slow baby steps.
Saturday: 1.51 miles in 20:45
I went out hiking all afternoon with my pup and then went to the gym and got in a mile and a half. WOOT! Longest day in the runstreak up until this point. Plus, a little faster than the day before even. We're getting there!
Sunday: 1.0 miles at 10:15
I was super proud of going out on this run. I had a travel day to fly down to New Orleans for work. Out of vanity and laziness, I didn't want to run before getting on to a plane for the day. So I put off running. And then, once I had landed, I immediately went out on the town with a friend. We did drinks, Bourbon Street, and wood-grilled oysters and beer.
And then I went back to the hotel to run. I didn't realize the hotel had a 24-Hour fitness facility, so I bundled up and went out running, in the rain on the road around the hotel. But the runstreak takes commitment, y'all. And sometimes it also takes a dash of crazy...
Monday: 2.00 miles in 23:00
LONG RUN!!! AHHH! Yepp, in the hotel, while in Louisiana for work. It felt amazing to get in two whole miles. Which is crazy considering that last year I was running 7-8 miles at a time, no big deal.
Tuesday: 1.01 miles in 13:34
Not very fast. But again, I'm traveling and still running. Pretty proud of myself.
Wednesday: 1.01 miles in 12:34
Another travel day. Again, laziness and a desire to sleep in meant I got home to Nashville from my flight, picked up my puppy, and went back to my apartment, realizing I still needed to run... But I went and did it. Slow is still better than did not go...
Thursday: 1.51 miles in 20:00
A mile and half may not seem like much, but still a good milestone for me. If I can start consistently getting back to running 1.5 miles, then I can work my way up to two miles... then three... I'll get back to tip-top shape in no time!
Friday: 1.10 miles in 12:02
I went running outside again! The hills around my apartment complex can be pretty challenging, but I really needed to get Rory out for a run so, since the weather was a little nicer, we went out and did a lap around the neighborhood.
Saturday: 1.01 miles in 16:00
Wow. I don't think I realized at the time how SLOW this mile was. It had been a busy day, filled with lots of time at the dog park for me and the pooch and lunch with a few friends. I'm actually kind of disappointed with this one. But it kept the runstreak going... If you can call it running at this point?
Sunday: 2.01 miles in 28:03
Another big day! Rory and I did four hours of hiking in a local state park and then I came home and went to the gym and got in a solid two miles! YAY!
Like those weeks back in the fall of last year when I'd hurt myself initially, this past bit of time was LOW MILEAGE AND SLOW MILEAGE. But the runstreak is back on and right now we're on Day 13!
I'm not posting today's run as part of this recap but *spoiler alert* today I got in 2.5 miles...
So I'm not where I want to be. But I'm headed in the right direction and that's what counts, right?
I hope you're all doing well to keep on track with your New Year's Resolutions!
#runlove, y'all!
