So one of the things I've been doing recently, is start following all these different communities on facebook and twitter that focus on running.
They all offer a lot of great tips and it's a easy way to make new friends to talk about running with. Because, let's be honest, my non-running friends are sick of hearing about it.
One of those communities was a facebook page named "Scrambled Legs Running." They had posted the following message one day:

And I thought to myself:
O.M.G. That sounds like pen pals + Christmas combined. I'm totally in.

My swap box partner ended up being Kim, from the great state of Washington, and I tell you, it's like we were sisters from a different mister.
We exchanged emails and quickly found out, that besides our love of running, we had plenty of other things in common.
We loved pink, sparkly things, chocolate (duh), peanut utter, and trying new adventures. Kim and I swapped addresses and clothing sizes in addition to our likes, and off we went to put together the perfect package for each other!
I wish I had had the common sense to take a photo of the package I sent her, but I will tell you I was pretty proud of it. I shopped all over town to try and find things I knew she would both like and be able to use. The one thing I absolutely knew I wanted to put in there was a pair of the Nathan pink reflective wristbands. I'd been meaning to buy a pair for myself, but they would be perfect to go into my swap box, too!
I could not wait until my box showed up and when it finally did, I felt like a small child on Christmas. :)
Kim got me the hook up with:
A sweet teal fitted tee
A running skirt from Sweet Spot Skirts
Two new nail polish colors in purple and pink to keep my feet lookin' sweet
Two Luna bars in chocolate and peanut butter
A beautiful hand-crafted necklace from her local farmer's market
A satchel of lavender, which will help keep my gear from being too smelly
A bottle of a all-natural version of icy hot
A sample of Body Glide
An adorable bright pink glittery headband from Sweaty Bands
AND... A pair of pink reflective snap bracelets from Nathan!!! How did she know?!?!
So much fun! I've already painted my toes (twice), worn my new tee shirt, used the all-natural icy hot stuff pretty much every day, and worn my Sweaty Bands headband all over town. I can't wait to use the rest of the gear!!!
Seriously, the swap box idea was so much fun and so simple. I would definitely recommend to anyone that if you like getting surprise packages at your door, you give this a try. Just check out Scrambled Legs Running on facebook and wait until they put up the post for the September Swap Box! I know I'm in!!! Maybe we'll even get each other! :)
