I figured that with a #runstreak, you probably didn't need to see a post from me every day saying "Hey guys, I'm still at it. Don't worry. I got this." So once a week or so I'll post an update about how I'm doing and what my milage was. Plus, since it's August now (EEK!), it seemed like a good time to do a re-cap of my milage from the past month!
So as you can see, from the picture, the first part of July was pretty scattered. Yet again, part of my decision to start my #runstreak. I officially started it this past Saturday on the 27th and have stuck to it! Saturday was a longer running day for me, although clearly not the longest. (Thanks to a scenic tour of Minneapolis/St. Paul from a running buddy who lives there. Got in 9 miles!)
I really like how Nike Plus puts together these little profiles and have found them pretty handy in the past in gauging my running, but they will definitely be more helpful as I move forward and try to focus more on longer distances and adding some speed to my runs. Eventually, I'd like to be faster than a herd of turtles. :)
Saturday: 2.01 miles @ 10:13/mile and 5.04 miles @ 9:28/mile
Sunday: 1.22 miles @ 9:36/mile
Monday: 3.11 miles @ 9:18/mile
Tuesday: 1.01 miles @ 9:53/mile
Wednesday: 1.60 miles @ 11:12/mile

Even with as scattered as my running was during the first half (I blame travelling for work for part of it... Sheer laziness for the rest.) According to Nike Plus, this was still my biggest month yet in terms of distance. I know there were weeks this winter where I ran further (on treadmills, yuck.) but since I wasn't using my Nike+ GPS Watch, those don't show up. I'm ok with that though. Porgress is being made. I'm running further and faster than I was one month ago and have improved tremendously since one year ago.
AS FOR AUGUST! It's time to set some goals!
Goal #1 Continue the #runstreak.
Obviously. :) I said something about the run streak to a friend the other day and he replied "well you can't stop now. Otherwise the internet will hold you accountable."
Goal #2 Increase total weekly & monthly distances.
Since the run streak will guarantee me at least 30 miles in August, I want to make it my goal to at least double that. That means 60 miles in one month. But thinking on that, it doesn't seem like a lofty enough goal. I mean, in all honesty, I could easily do two miles a day. So I'm gonna tack on an extra 10 miles and aim for 70 miles in August. I think it's doable. It will push me, but I can make it happen. That means 17-18 miles a week. DO WORK, SON!
Goal #3 Buy new running shoes.
I know, this shouldn't be so hard. But I always put this off. The pair of shoes I wore before the ones I have now I had been "running" in for over 6 years. In fact, I honestly don't even remember how long I had those shoes. But it was too long. So by the end of August, I want new running shoes. time to do some research!
And there it is. My running goals for August and a re-cap on July.
What are your goals for the next month?!?!
