YAY! IT'S SEPTEMBER!
Ok, now that I've got THAT out of the way...
This past week finished up the month of August and I think I finished pretty strong.
As you may have already read, I did not reach 100 miles. Just shy of it though and I did almost 40 miles more than I did the month before.
So I have nothing to be ashamed of.
AND! I finished my first month of the runstreak. WOOT!

Total miles for the past week: 24.32
Ok, now I'm starting to get a complex. I think Nike+ views Sundays as rest days, becuase this is the second week in a row where my Sunday run has NOT shown up on the weekly overview, but HAS shown up on a daily overview. Check it out below. Also, interesting note: It is calculated in my total number of miles run, but not the number of runs completed.
WHAT IS YOUR FREAKING PROBLEM, NIKE+?!?!?!
I'm working with them to get it fixed, but I'm begining to think they just don't like me...
Monday: 1.01 miles at 9:15
Just a short run. Didn't happen until later in the day, so it was starting to get dark. Nothing fancy here, just keeping the runstreak going.
Tuesday: 3.48 miles at 11:15
Took the dogs out for a nice trail run. We stopped again at the creek to cool our heels and for the dogs to get a drink. It was hot. It was humid. And I need to learn to avoid the far West part of this trail. It's all unstable sand and it's been killer on my left knee lately. I can just feel the instability causing me issues. Bad sand. Bad.
Wednesday: 4.90 miles at 10:09
HOT. SWEATY. HUMID. FABULOUS. Am I the onyl runner who LIKES sweating? Like, seriously. If I finish a run and I'm not all hot and bothered, I feel like I did it wrong. But, then again, I also like Hot Yoga. Apparently, sweating is my favorite. Sweating and smiling. Because smiling is my favorite, too.
Thursday: 1.01 miles at 10:34
Remember how I mentioned that instability in my knee from Tuesday's run? Yepp, time to take it easy. No need to push too hard and risk injury. I had big plans for a long trail run on Saturday and didn't want to risk injuring myself before then and have to cancel.
Friday: 1.07 miles at 9:53
Same as Thursday. Just taking it easy and doing what, for me, at least is a rest day.
Saturday: 6.22 miles at 10:51, 1.31 miles at 11:41, and 3.02 miles at 11:49
Ok, so technically, the first two runs were actually one, but we paused at the trailhead to talk to some cyclists. They had just finished a 34 mile bike ride. INTENSE! But, while we were talking I stopped my watch and had to re-start it when we picked it back up to add on a few more miles.
The second part of that run was probably a little longer than 1.31 miles, but I forgot to re-start my watch when we paused to check the map. Like I've said before, I don't count my miles unless they're on the watch. So, while I probably did an extra half mile in there, it didn't get recorded. So I'm not counting it.
And last, but not least, the three mile torture run that was SUPPOSED to put me over 100 miles for August. UGH. HORRIBLE. Poor life choice. Ok, I don't regret that run, but if I had to do it all over again, I might not.
Sunday: 2.30 miles at 13:02
Sunday night. Legs are still tired. I'm still sore. And I'm bummed about not having reached 100 miles. I need to remind myself of why I love running. What better place to do that than on the shores of Lake Michigan at sunset? NO BETTER PLACE I TELL YOU. SERIOUSLY. It's GORGEOUS. Check out my instagram account for pictures and videos. People probably thought I was crazy. And no, I didn't really run it at a 13:02 pace. Probably closer to 10:00 pace, but I didn't turn the watch off after I ran the two miles, so there's about 0.3 miles of me wandering slowly back down the beach and stopping to take photos of the gorgeous sunset. Kinda throws off the whole pace thing... :) But this run did what I needed it to do. Reminded me of why I love running, how lucky I am to be able to run in such a gorgeous location, and it made me HAPPY. I couldn't stop smiling. I played in the lake and watched the sun set and just enjoyed it. PERFECTION.
And the perfect way to cap off my running week and to start a new month. :)
