Weekly Update Number Two!
It's the 20th day of the new year and I'm still running!
I think I really like this whole starting a runstreak on the first day of a new year thing... It's making it super easy to keep track of what day I'm on.
And so without further ado...

The past week in running!
Total miles since January 1st: 24.74 miles.
Not many miles over the course of 12 days...
But sometimes you need to start small in order to reach big goals.
Monday: 2.52 miles in 33:09
Another long run in the books. Yes, slow. I will accept slow. Because we are adding distance. And by we, I mean me and my ego, who has not accepted this whole short distance running thing with grace.
Tuesday: 1.00 miles in 11:21
Short run. Speed, moderate. But the runstreak continues!
Wednesday: 1.00 miles at 9:52/mile
Went running back outside because the weather was gorgeous! I have to say, I am loving this whole living in the South thing and I am very excited for the spring to get here sooner than it ever would back in Michigan...
Thursday: Assumed 1 mile in 15:00 minutes
Ok, I got home late and when I went to run outside, my watch died. So I ran my normal route, but instead of being able to guarantee one mile, I ran at least 15 minutes. Since my average pace has been at least 4 miles per hour (or 15 minutes per mile), I figured that running for at least 15 minutes would get me at least one mile.
Friday: 1.00 miles at 9:28/mile
Look who's starting to feel speedy... This girl right here!
Saturday: 1.02 miles in 14:13
Back on the treadmill and back to being slow... I'm beginning to notice a trend? Why do I run slower on the treadmill? If anything, I should run faster on the treadmill to get it over with sooner...
Sunday: 1.0 miles at 9:40/mile
Back outside, back to getting in some speedier runs! And this time, I even took a few little detours, like checking out what looked like a trail leading off the back road by my apartment... (Completely flooded over, so maybe some other time...) and then deciding to take the shortcut through The Home Depot back entrance... HUGE MISTAKE. I have never met a hill I despised as much as this one. But I ran it. And because I have a penchant for misery, I will probably do some hill repeats on that hill this summer...
Seriously... look at the elevation increase on that last bit... I'm tired just thinking about it...

And finally, today...
Monday: 1.00 mile at 8:30/mile
Oh, ya know... No big deal. Just call me Speedy Gonzales. Pretty excited. Like I wrote in the post before this one, I know I'm not setting the world on fire or going to break any world records for speed. But this is a big step for me. And I'm pretty excited about it.
So there it is! The past week! The runstreak continues, I'm gaining speed and starting to increase my mileage. I'm trying not to over do it, but I'm just so darned excited!
YAY! Running!
#runlove, y'all!
